Cowes Week 3rd to 10th August 2013

Cowes Week!  Do we need to say any more? Cowes Week regatta has earned the reputation of being “The most famous sailing regatta in the World” and now forms part of the British Summer social calendar.

Up to 1,000 boats and 8,000 crew race over eight days in the Central, Eastern and Western Solent. Cowes attracts the greatest number of yachts and sailors to compete in some of the most challenging races set in these world-renowned waters.

With a history spanning nearly 180 years and sailing's best party atmosphere, it's easy to see why the event is one of the World's premier sporting events and the Number 1 yachting Regatta. Cowes Week is not for the faint hearted with serious racing and serious partying, it is not necessary to be an expert sailor/racer although some spinnaker sailing experience is required. Pre-event race training will be offered if you feel that you are low on experience.

On Shore Fun - Lets Party

The Cowes beer tent comes alive as soon as the racing finishes for the day as crews swap stories over a drink or two. The fun is none stop and you will wonder how you find the time to race.

The town of Cowes provides excellent facilities, with plenty of pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes to choose from.

The Must Do Event

The 'Must Do' Event on the International Sailing Calendar - Whether an amateur or professional sailor, a World Champion or an Olympic medallist, this is the EVENT you MUST DO

Yes, Cowes Week is something that everyone should do at least once in their life time.

Why not experience it all first hand by joining Reach 4 the Wind at Cowes Week

Weather

This is English summer weather; we could see beautiful blue skies with force 3 to 4 south Westerlies or grey clouds and near gale force winds. You will need to be prepared for anything!

The Boat

Gentle cruising with friends and family, corporate hospitality or full on offshore or regatta racing, the Beneteau First 40.7 is the perfect yacht. All are DOT coded for up to ten guests, meticulously maintained and have every conceivable luxury to make your charter one to remember

Designed by Bruce Farr, the First 40.7 combines a sleek and sophisticated racer with all the creature comforts of a luxurious cruiser. Her hull and powerful fractional rig produces top level racing performance. Elegant cabin design affords space below and features outstandingly high levels of comfort.

The extra-roomy cockpit incorporates removable lockers that make for flexible stowage capacity and less weight for racing. Depending upon the charter requirement, the Beneteau First 40.7's come fully equipped with an excellent selection of top quality racing or cruising sails (including spinnakers), leading brand hardware, ropes and electronics, gas and diesel fuel

The 40.7 is a very quick and competitive yacht. They have had many successes, the most recent of which is overall winner of the 2003 Sydney - Hobart, in both IRC and IMS. Closer to home a 40.7 won IRC class 1 in the 2003 RORC series and another was second in the hotly contested IRC class 3 at Skandia Cowes Week 2003.
